Paul Newell

Guitar Teacher

Paul Newell joins us as guitar teacher as one of the most recognisable faces in the Mayo music scene.
Paul has been playing guitar since the age of 14, and studied music up to Leaving Cert in Gortnor Abbey. He performed in musicals and his love for music led to him being a gigging musician since the age of 14!
He has been a songwriter and performer with various bands, and has released several albums, including the self-titled album with his band Valera in 2012.
Paul has performed and toured extensively, including recording a heavy metal album in Italy. He has had the opportunity to support and perform with bands such as the Blizzards, the Saw Doctors, the Hot House Flowers and Smokie in various venues around Ireland.
Paul is currently the bass player for Gorilla Radio, one of Ireland's most sought-after cover and wedding bands. Their most recent lockdown recording garnered over 150k views on social media.
On his appointment, David Lynn adds, 'Paul is a born performer, and I have no doubt his positivity, enthusiasm, and personality will make him a massive addition to the Lynn Academy of Music.'
